We write today to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to equity-based work, explicitly grounded in anti-ableism and anti-racism. We believe firmly that meritocracy, for marginalized groups, is a myth and that opportunity is not provided equally.
From a very early age, individuals from minoritized groups and those with disabilities face active exclusion from programs designed to enhance opportunities and exposure to diverse professions—including health professions education and training.
These biases do not cease upon entry; rather, they persist, continuing to actively harm disabled and minoritized individuals throughout their professional education, training, and practice.
At DWDI, we refuse to seek alternative language to mask our intentions, soften our message, or make it more palatable to those who actively perpetuate harm against our community.
With steadfast support from our community and funders, we remain resolutely dedicated to our mission and goals.
We look forward to continuing this critical work alongside you.
With determination,
